Note that there can be no action with value 1 if the current state of the internal variable has value 0, because the value 1 action indicates the maintenance of the current status 1.

The same applies to an action with value 0 if the state of internal variable has value 1 because the value 0 indicates the maintenance of the current state 0.

Generalized Drive Table

Following presented in the previous paragraph is generated the Generalized Drive Table.

Excitation Table for RS Flip Flop

To be able to generate the Generalized Drive Table, from the Detailed Drive Table, that shows the values of the variables presented in the R and S Flip Flops inputs, is necessary to transform the values of variables at the inputs R and S of Flip Flops, to drive symbols equivalents for this flip flop type.

Using the Generalized Drive Table and the Excitation Table for RS Flip Flop the symbols presented for the internal variables are replaced by the values that will be applied to the R and S inputs such that the correct action occurs.

Thus each one of the symbols is replaced by two values variables, one for input R and another for input S.
